HOWARD CITY–Montague senior Cale Coppess made it to the championship match of the 135 pound division at the Division 3 regional at Howard City-Tri County on Saturday, and carries a 42-1 record into the state finals next month at Ford Field in Detroit.

Also qualifying for the Wildcats was junior Tristan Winkleblack with a third place at 140 pounds. He improved his record to 40-6 on the season.

Kent City is also sending two wrestlers to the state finals, senior Logan McVicker finished third at 285 and moved his record to 35-16 while sophomore Carson Gorton took home a third place medal at 103 and now is 37-10 for the year.

Orchard View freshman Jaxon Tuttle is going to state after finishing third at 189 pounds and improving his record to 29-11 on the season.

Catholic Central has junior David Hill attending the big dance after his fourth place finish at 152 pounds to move his record to 32-6.

Grant is sending a pair of wrestlers to state as senior Brady Jacobs was runnerup at 152 pounds and raised his record to 33-9, while freshman Alex Russo was fourth at 112 and is now 34-4 for the year.
