FREMONT–In the Division 2 regional at Fremont the host team crowned one regional champion as sophomore Tee Ward pinned Jeremiah Brown of Flint Kearsley in 3:22 at 119 pounds for the title.
Fremont also had sophomore Killian Prewitt qualify for state with a third place finish at 103 and improve his record to 38-6, junior Michael Romero was fourth at 189 and is now 38-10, while sophomore Trey Myers also was fourth at 145 and moved his record to 40-6 for the season.
ALLENDALE–Whitehall crowned three regional champions at the tournament in Allendale.
Vikings senior Ira Jenkins won by injury forfeit in 51 seconds at 285 pounds and remained undefeated at 45-0 for the season, senior Nicholas Blanchard pinned Kirgin Tanis of Northview to win the title at 171 and lifted his record to 42-3 and senior Max Brown pinned Noah Ledford of Zeeland to win the 145 title and improved his record to 37-5.
Also qualifying for Whitehall were junior Sean Cook who was second at 215 and improved his record to 43-2, senior Alec Pruett third at 152 and is now 36-10, freshman Wyatt Jenkins third at 160 (37-8) and senior Riley Buys fourth at 130 (34-10).
Reeths-Puffer had two wrestlers qualify for state, with freshman Ian Cook finishing third at 103 (42-4) and junior Kaden Malotke was fourth at 135 (30-6).
Fruitport is sending two wrestlers to Ford Field as junior Roan Cooper was runnerup at 119 (38-8) while junior Nash Cooper was fourth at 110 (40-7).
