The Spring Lake boys basketball team dropped a tough O-K Blue Conference match to a much taller Holland Christian team on Friday night with a 59-48 loss.

The Lakers pushed the Maroons in the fourth quarter, tying the score 40-40 early in the final eight minutes of play.

The Lakers fell behind 17-11 after the first quarter and trailed just 26-22 at halftime.

Spring Lake picked up more momentum in the third as it trailed just 40-37 to finish the quarter.

Fouls became an issue for the Lakers down the stretch as the Maroons sank 15 of 19 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off the Lakers.

Zach Schlepp and Kaden George led for Spring Lake with 11 points each. Porter Saunders and Eli Morrison chipped in 10 points and eight points, respectively.

Spring Lake drops to 9-6 overall with a 7-3 league record and will be back to conference action on Tuesday when they travel to Coopersville.
