Grand Rapids–Capping off the regular season with a hard 76-29 loss on Friday evening against the champion of the O-K Conference-Blue, Grand Rapids West Catholic, the Spring Lake girls basketball team wrapped up the regular season tied for second place in the conference with an 8-6 record.

The Lakers were overwhelmed quickly as they fell behind 43-19 by the end of the first half and continued into the final half finding themselves on the wrong side of a 33-10 scoring run to seal the deal.

Knowing this was the last game before the post-season the Lakers still fought hard battling to earn every point and claw to try and make stops on defense, but with a blazing scoring effort by West Catholic’s Abbey Kimball who put up 32 points, fell too far behind while the Falcons ended with a perfect 14-0 record in the conference.

Leading the way for the Lakers was Meah Bajt who scored seven points, grabbed five rebounds and made four assists while Jennifer Judge did her part adding five points on the night. Emma Nicles and Alexa Carter each threw in four points apiece.

Spring Lake closes out the season with a 12-8 record and will be back in action on Wednesday, March 2 at 5:30 p.m. taking on the winner of the Whitehall versus Orchard View district girls basketball game being played at Oakridge on Monday, February 28.
