MUSKEGON–Mona Shores made this contest much closer, but Muskegon was able to pull away late as the Big Reds won, 60-44.

Muskegon led 20-12 at the end of the first quarter. They increased their lead to 36-20 at halftime. The third quarter saw Mona Shores cut the lead to six points before Muskegon led at the end of the period 48-35.

Jordan Briggs was the leading scorer for the Big Reds with 12 points and five rebounds. Ja’Den Walker tallied eight points and three rebounds while Ethan Hill finished with eight points, 10 rebounds, and two steals. Devin Bartee and Anthony Sydnor III scored six points.

Mona Shores had a brilliant performance from Parker Swartz with 23 points on 3 of 4 from downtown and 8 of 9 from the line. Demetri Roberson was the leading rebounder with six rebounds and five points. Mason Hallett also tallied five points.

Muskegon weathered the Sailors storm and finished off with a big 16-point victory over their rival. They improve to 12-0 in conference and 15-1 overall. The Big Reds will host Grand Blanc tomorrow night.

Mona Shores falls to 5-7 in conference and 8-10 overall. The Sailors will travel to Holland to take on the Dutch next Tuesday.
