WHITEHALL — Whitehall’s boys basketball team led all the way in posting a 61-53 victory over visiting Mason County Central on Friday night in the West Michigan Conference.

The Vikings opened the game with a 14-9 lead after one quarter, and outscored the Spartans, 15-13 in the second for a 29-22 lead at the half.

Mason County got the jump on the Vikings in the third period for a 16-15 advanatage, but Whitehall carried a 44-38 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Vikings had a 17-15 edge in the final eight minutes.

Cam Thompson led all scorers with 23 points for the Vikings. Reid Watson and Nate Bolley scored six apiece. Thompson also ripped down 17 rebounds and Brodie Fogus hauled down 12.

Watson picked off four steals and dished out three assists. Thompson also had three assists.

Jayden Perrone paced the Spartans with 18 points and he also hauled down nine rebounds. Will Chye added 13 points and six rebounds. Jack VanderHaag contributed eight points.

Whitehall improves to 13-5 overall and 10-3 in the conference. The Vikings are next scheduled to see action Tuesday hosting Shelby.

Mason County Central drops to 5-12 overall and 2-11 in the conference. The Spartans are next scheduled to see action Tuesday at home against North Muskegon.
