MUSKEGON — After trailing by 13 points at the half, Oakridge’s boys basketball team rallied to snare a 62-60 overtime win over Whitehall at home Friday in the West Michigan Conference.

Oakridge extended its winning streak to five straight games, while snapping Whitehall’s six-game winning streak. The Vikings still maintained their hold on first place in the conference.

Whitehall led by 10 points, 18-8 at end of the first quarter and then outscored Oakridge, 18-15 in the second to carry a 36-23 lead into the half.

But the Eagles charged back in the second half, outscoring the Vikings, 19-13 in the third period and cut the Vikings’ lead down to seven, 49-42.

The Eagles then outscored the Vikings, 16-9 in the fourth period to tie the game, 58-58 at the end of regulation and force overtime. Oakridge had a 4-2 edge in the extra period.

Garrett Wever paced the Eagles with 22 points, followed by Ethan Jozsa with 21 and Hunter DeLora with 10.

Josza also hauled down 10 rebounds while Wever grabbed six. Wever dished out four assists and Peyton Ruel three. Wever led in steals with three, while Ruel and Ryan Cribbins each had two.

Whitehall was paced by Camden Thompson who scored a game-high 25 points including making 7 of 7 free throws, while Isaac DeHart tossed in 13 and Red Watson added 12 with seven assists.

Thompson also led the Vikings in rebounds with 14 and had three blocked shots. Watson came away with six steals and DeHart had two.

Oakridge improved its record to 10-8 overall and 6-6 in the conference with its fifth straight win. The Eagles are next scheduled to see action on Friday, Feb. 25 at home against North Muskegon.

Whitehall fell to 11-5 overall and 9-3 in the conference. The Vikings are next scheduled to see action on Wednesday, Feb. 23 in a non-league game against Lakes 8 Activities Conference champion Ludington.
