MUSKEGON–Putting on an explosive scoring show including scoring 30 points, Garrett Wever and the Oakridge boys basketball team overtook the Western Michigan Christian Warriors 78-57 in non-conference play on Tuesday night.

The Eagles jumped out to a 22-12 first quarter lead and never looked back.

Oakridge continued to control the offensive tempo in the second stanza outscoring WMC 16-7 to take a commanding 38-19 halftime lead.

The Eagles continued their efficiency from both the field and the arc to put up 20 more points in the third quarter but showed a bit more looseness in their defense allowing the Warriors to answer back with 18 points of their own and bring the score to 58-37 at the end of the third quarter.

Oakridge and West Michigan Christian each burned the nets for 20 points in the final eight minutes.

Along with his game high scoring honors Wever also pulled down eight rebounds, made six assists and snagged three steals. Ethan Jozsa chipped in with 18 points and five blocked shots.

Jared Olsen led the WMC offense with 20 points while Owen Varnado and Sam Liggett threw in 13 and 11 points respectively.

Oakridge improves to 8-8 overall and is 3-6 in the West Michigan Conference. The Eagles will be at Mason County Central on Thursday.

Western Michigan Christian falls to 3-10 overall and have a 3-3 record in the Lakes 8 Conference. The Warriors will travel to Manistee on Friday.
