ZEELAND–Using a high scoring 23 point second quarter the Reeths-Puffer boys basketball team strong armed their way to a solid 61-38 victory over O-K Green Conference foe Zeeland East on Tuesday night.

The Rockets fought to a slight 12-9 lead after the first quarter but after finding their groove offensively in the second stanza used a strong scoring performance to increase the lead and bring the score to 35-24 going into the halftime break.

The energy fizzled out after the first half for both teams but the Rockets continued to hold the upper hand snapping off a 10-4 scoring run to end the third quarter to go into the final eight minutes with a 45-28 lead over the Chix.

The fourth quarter was all added insurance for the Rockets as they sealed the deal for the win scoring 16 more points and held the Chix to just 10 points.

Reeths-Puffer’s Jaxson Whitaker was on fire from the arc as he drained seven three point shots for the Rockets and another basket from the field to lead the Reeths-Puffer scoring attack with 23 points on the night while also dishing out nine assists and grabbing four rebounds.

Travis Ambrose posted a double-double for the Rockets scoring 19 points, grabbing 14 rebounds and having seven blocks.

Reeths-Puffer moves to 9-5 with a 6-3 record in the conference and is set to play host to Zeeland West on Friday in league action.
