GRAND RAPIDS — Reeths-Puffer suffered its second consecutive boys basketball loss Friday night, 68-54 to Grand Rapids Union on the road in the OK Conference-Green.

Union jumped on the Rockets right off the bat, taking an 18-11 lead after the first quarter. Things didn’t get any better for Puffer in the second period, as the Rockets were outscored 16-7 and were down, 34-18 at the half.

The Rockets came out on fire in the third quarter and outscored Union, 20-12 and cut the Union lead to eight, 46-38 going into the fourth period. But Union weathered the Rockets storm with a 22-16 advantage in the final eight minutes.

Jaxson Whitaker paced the Rockets with 19 points and also dished out five assists. Logan Brooks finished the game with 13 points.

Genesis Kemp led all scorers with 25 points for Union. Montrel Oliver added 13.

Reeths-Puffer falls to 12-7 overall and 9-5 in the conference. The Rockets are scheduled to conclude the regular season Thursday hosting Spring Lake.
