Moving to 9-2 in the Western Michigan Conference and taking on its sixth win in a row, the Whitehall boys basketball team struck down the Hart Pirates, 65-35 at home on Tuesday evening.

The Vikings ran all over the Pirates in the opening quarter as they belted out a massive 19-2 scoring run to kick off the game with a steep deficit.

Hart tightened up its offense, but the Vikings held strong and allowed just a single point advantage to roll into the break with a 32-16 lead.

The Vikings came out in the third quarter strong on both offense and defense, holding the Pirates to just eight points to their 19 to move into the final eight minutes leading, 51-24.

The Vikings refused to give up any ground, adding another three points to the deficit with a 14-11 scoring run to cap off the night.

Playing lights out for the Viking’s was Camden Thompson who posted a double-double, scoring 18 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Kal Koehler added 10 points with six rebounds while Jack McDowell and Isaac DeHart each chipped in six points.

Wyatt Dean led Hart with 17 points while Kohen Porter scored nine points and went 4 of 4 from the line.

The Whitehall win improves the Vikings to 11-4 on the season and will continue league action on Friday when they play host to the Oakridge Eagles.

The Hart Pirates sink to 5-9 with a 2-9 record in the WMC and will also see more conference action on Friday when they host North Muskegon.
