MUSKEGON–The Warriors’ Seniors stepped up big in their victory over Orchard View 63-57.

WMC led throughout the contest with a 21-14 first quarter lead and a halftime lead of 35-36. Orchard View shrunk the lead to six at the end of the third quarter 48-42.

Sam Liggett was the leading scorer for the Warriors with 21 points and six rebounds. Owen Varnado added 18 points and eight rebounds.

Head Coach Kurt Gruppen said this about his Seniors, “It was a great night to celebrate the seniors that have contributed so much to the Warrior basketball program. Joe Waller, Joey Prince, Owen Varnado, Sam Liggett, and Jamie Cho are all excellent kids that will be missed greatly. All 5 stepped up tonight to help us grind out a 6-point win vs. Orchard View”.

WMC improves to 5-3 in the Lakes 8 Activities Conference and 5-10 overall. The Warriors will host Holton next Tuesday.

Orchard View falls to 1-8 in Lakes 8 play and 3-12 overall. The Cardinals will host Shelby on Tuesday.
