Spring Lake — Spring Lake athletic department is excited to announce that Cody Mallory will be the next varsity football head coach for the Lakers. 

Coach Mallory was named the 2020 Division 4 football head coach of the year and brings nearly 20 years of varsity level coaching experience with him; the last 8 as varsity head coach. Most recently at Cadillac High School Cody led the Vikings to its first state finals appearance in the school’s 125 year history. Additionally, winning the first regional title in school history and the past three district championships. Coach Mallory was awarded Regional Coach of the Year in both 2021 & 2020 by the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association and selected as Head Coach for the MHSFCA West All Star Team in 2022.

When asked what the program will look like under his leadership Coach Mallory said, “we will use football as a tool to build people of great character, who put others above self and have a positive impact on their family, school, and community.”

Prior to his time at Cadillac he served as head varsity coach at Provo High School in Utah for two seasons and was defensive coordinator for Frankfort High School over 10 seasons. Coach Mallory is well respected in the coaching community serving as Regional Director for the coaches association and presenter at coaches clinics.

Spring Lake High School is an 815 student high school which competes in the Ottawa-Kent Conference Blue Division and Michigan High School Athletics Association post-season tournament.
