SCOTTVILLE–North Muskegon’s boys basketball team held Mason County Central to just two points in the fourth quarter en route to a convincing 53-37 victory Tuesday night on the road in the West Michigan Conference.

The Norsemen took a two-point lead, 13-11 at the end of the first quarter. But the Spartans had a 9-7 edge in the second, as the teams ended the first half in a 20-20 tie.

North Muskegon outscored the Spartans, 16-15 in the third period to regain the lead, 36-35 going into the fourth period. The Norsemen pulled away with a 17-2 advantage in the final eight minutes.

“They just physically beat us inside,” said Mason County Central coach Tim Genson.

Jason Bogue, the Norsemen’s 6-foot-5 center, led all scorers in the game with 20 points for the Norsemen. Sam Gallo contributed 10 points while Troy McManus, James Young and Brandon Rypstra added seven apiece.

The Spartans were led by Will Chye who scored 12 points and Kolden Myer each had seven while Zach Draper and Jayden Perrone scored five apiece.

North Muskegon improved to 11-8 overall and concluded the conference season 8-6. The Norsemen end the regular season Thursday hosting Wyoming Potter’s House.

Mason County Central fell to 5-13 overall and finished the WMC schedule 2-12. The Spartans finish the regular season Thursday hosting inter-county rival Ludington.
