MORLEY – Undefeated Kent City had no trouble cruising to the Division 3 district championship game on Wednesday, as the Eagles dominated Lakeview, 64-29.

Kent CIty improves to 21-0 this season. The Eagles will face either host Morley Stanwood or White Cloud in Friday’s district title game.

Against the Wildcats, Kent City roared out of the gates with a 22-4 first-quarter lead and never let up. The Eagles led 39-15 at the half, and 50-22 after three quarters.

We were able to come out with the energy we wanted tonight and got a big lead early,” said Kent City coach Aleah Holcomb. “Our team executed the game plan, which allowed us to get our younger players some valuable tournament experience.”

Lexie Bowers and Maddie Geers each had monster games for Kent City. Bowers had 29 points, six assists and four rebounds, while Geers totaled 22 points, nine rebounds and eight steals.

Taryn Preston had 11 points and six rebounds and Denyle Bonter grabbed seven rebounds.
