SPARTA–Sparta held off the Fremont Packers in the second half as they won a defensive battle 53-40 on Friday evening in a Division 2 district basketball game at Sparta.

Fremont led at the end of the first quarter 16-14. Sparta took the lead going into halftime 29-24. Sparta kept their five point lead after a defensive third quarter 35-30.

Jordon McDonald led the Packers in scoring with 14 points. Logan Nelson added 10 points. Gavin Richards contributed with six points while Blake Hanshue finished the evening with five points.

Jax Wilson was dominant throughout the entire ballgame for the Spartans with an astounding 33 points in the district championship game.

Fremont finishes the season with a record of 14-8 overall and 11-3 in the CSAA Gold to finish second in the conference.
