FLORIDA — The Muskegon Community College women’s softball program cruised to another pair of wins Tuesday, shutting out the University of Debuque JV, 9-0, and topping St. Mary’s Minnesota, 16-2.
In the first game against Dubuque JV, the Jayhawks got another stout pitching performance from Makayla Thompson (Reeths-Puffer), who twirled a two-hitter to hike her spring record to 3-0.
Every starter came through with a hit at the plate as the Jayhawks banged out 12 for the game. Morgan Knapp (Whitehall), Hayden Ruel (Oakridge) and Annika Roersma (West Catholic) each drove in two runs.
Against St. Mary’s, team captain Kendyll Bond (Jenison) earned ther third win of the season, combining with Cass Kohnke (Fruitport) to spin a five-hitter.
Bond led the way offensively, clouting two home runs with nine total bases for the game. Kennadi Dykstra (Fruitport) contributed a pair of doubles as the Jayhawks pounded out 14 base hits in four innings.
The Jayhawks are now 6-0 for the spring.
