Grand Rapids–The Sailors gave up 44 second half points in their playoff loss 67-54 to Grand Rapids Kenowa Hills on Monday evening.

Mona Shores played a promising first half leading 28-23 at halftime after trailing 17-14 at the end of the first quarter. Kenowa Hill’s offense kicked into gear regaining the advantage 49-42 at the end of the third quarter.

The Sailors were led by Donovan Russell with 13 points, five rebounds, and four blocks. Keontae Richards and Parker Swartz each had 10 points as Richards also tallied five assists and four rebounds. Demetri Roberson finished with seven points and three assists.

The Sailors coaching staff was very grateful for their opportunity to coach the group of seniors on their squad saying, “The coaching staff would like to thank the senior class for all the change they have made on the program. The sailors won more games this season than in many years. The coaching staff and Sailor Nation would like to thank the senior class: JT Johnson, Donovan Russell, Ethan Krueger, Demetri Roberson and Keontae Richards.”

Mona Shores finishes the season with an overall record of 9-12 and 6-8 in the OK Green to end as sixth in the conference.
