NORTH MUSKEGON – North Muskegon found a flair for the dramatic to close out its regular season on Thursday.

Trailing by two to host Wyoming Potter’s House Christian with 15 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, the Norse’ Troy McManus sank a go-ahead 3-pointer with 12 seconds left to take a 51-50 lead.

Potter’s House had a good look, a long rebound and another decent shot on its final possession, but both attempts came up short, giving North Muskegon the exciting one-point victory.

Potter’s House had a 30-21 lead at the half, but the Norse stormed back by out-scoring the hosts by 17-15 in the third and 13-5 in the final quarter.

North Muskegon had a trio of players reach double figures in scoring, led by Troy McManus with 15 points and three assists. Brandon Rypstra totaled 11 and James Young tallied 10.

With the win, North Muskegon finishes its regular season with a 12-8 record. The Norse opens district play on Monday in the Division 3 tournament against host Western Michigan Christian. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
