RAVENNA–Ravenna’s stifling overtime defense held Montague to three points in the extra period in their 52-48 overtime win on Tuesday evening.

Ravenna started off the night strong with a 14-9 first quarter lead and 22-18 halftime lead. Montague played a better second half cutting the lead to two at the end of the third quarter 31-29. The Wildcats tied it up at the end of regulation 45-45.

Only four players scored for the Bulldogs but that was enough as Grant Becklin had 21 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Kyle Beebe added 16 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Clay Schullo added eight points off the bench. Travis May tallied seven points, four rebounds, and three steals.

The Wildcats were led by Tate Stine with 15 points and five assists. Colton Blankstrom made four three-pointers off the bench and finished with 12 points. Isaiah Atchison finished with six points, seven rebounds, and four blocks.

Head Coach David Osborne said, “We were too passive offensively tonight and made too many mistakes down the stretch. Ravenna took care of the ball better than us and were much more aggressive offensively for a large part of the game.”

Ravenna finishes West Michigan Conference play 10-4 and moves to 12-6 overall. The Bulldogs will host Remus Chippewa Hills on Thursday to finish the regular season.

Montague finishes West Michigan Conference play 8-6 and moves to 13-6 overall. The Wildcats travel to Fruitport on Thursday before playing Fruitport in their district opener next week.
