SPRING LAKE–Spring Lake’s girls softball team swept a doubleheader from Fruitport, 13-5 and 13-3 with a powerful offense that included some long ball fireworks.

In the first game, the Lakers scored four runs in the top of the first which included a two-run home run by Avery Britt and never looked back.

Alexa Carter crushed a home run for the Lakers in the fourth inning when they scored two runs. Spring Lake scored four in the sixth and three in the seventh.

Carter would finish the game 4-for-5, Tessa Britt went 3-for-4 and Avery Britt was 3-for-5. Avery Britt was the winning pitcher, scattering 10 hits and striking out five.

A. Eads went 3-for-4 to lead Fruitport, while Brooklyn Russell struck out nine for the Trojans.

Leading hitters for the Lakers in the nightcap included Carter who was 4-for-5, Kendra Kieft who was 3-for-5 and Avery Flynn who finished 3-for-5.

Flynn was the winning pitcher for the Lakers, striking out seven while the defense played a solid game behind her.

Riley Lusk led the Trojans with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate.
