JENISON — Because of the rain, Mona Shores’ baseball team only completed the first game of a scheduled doubleheader with Jenison on the road Saturday.

The Sailors won the opener, 3-1 and made it into the fourth inning of the nightcap with a 3-2 lead when the skies opened and the rain came down.

Jaxon Huffman crushed a solo home run over the left field fence to provide some late insurance and finished the first game with two hits, two runs batted in and two runs scored.

Aaron Piasecki also had two hits, walked twice and had a stolen base while Mark Konecny contributed a pair of hits with one RBI and a run scored.

Trevor Cunningham dominated on the hill, pitching a complete game, scattering five hits while walking two and striking out four.

Mona Shores improved to 14-2 overall and 9-0 in the OK Green.
