Fremont girls track and field team finishes 9th at the Kathy Talus Invitational

LOWELL–The Fremont girls track and field team finally had great weather for a track meet on Saturday, maybe a little too warm, but they were not complaining!

The girls performed well against tough competition on Saturday, finishing 9^th out of 12 teams.

The top 3 teams were Lowell, Byron Center and Caledonia.

Most of the events were relays. Field events took the best two marks and added them together for a score.

Erica Maddox (Sr) and Rachel Maddox (Fr) earned 3^rd place medals, Erica cleared 4’8” and Rachel cleared 4’6” in high jump.

Other highlights from the meet included the 4×100 relay team of Victoria Ekkel (So), Rachel Maddox, Justina Reimerova (Sr), and Erica Maddox taking home the 4^th place medals with a time of 54.85.

Lauren O’Malley (So) ran her season record in both the 100 (18.08) and 300 (53.07) hurdles.

Ayana Powell (Sr) achieved her season record in both the shot put (27’2.25”) and discus (71’5”).

Adriana Cushman (Fr) earned her new PR in shot put, 26’2”.

Fremont will travel to Central Montcalm next Tuesday.
