COOPERSVILLE — Fruitport’s boys and girls track teams opened the 2022 season Tuesday afternoon in a dual meet with Coopersville on the road, and both were defeated.

The boys lost their side of the meet, 81-54 while the girls were defeated, 93.5-39.5.

Individual event winners for the Trojans included Cody Nash in the 200 meters (23.44 seconds), Johnathon McMullin in the 800 meters (2:19.84), Ethan Horan in the 1600 meters (5:18.46) and Connor Lodholtz in the 3200 meters (12:07.91).

Fruitport also won the 400 relay (45.43), the 800 relay (1:33.55), the 1600 relay (4:00.63) and the 3200 relay (9:08.44).

Also for the Trojan boys Alex Facundo was second in the 400 meters (57.96), Lodholtz took second in the 1600 meters (5:22.58), Pierce Jolman in the 300 hurdles (49.00) and Camden Farrell in the long jump (19 feet 1.25 inches).

Finishing third for the Trojans was Sean Gieske in the 200 meters (24.58), Horan finished third in the 800 meters (2:25.4), McMullin and Collin Jolman in the discus (115 feet 6 inches).

Kaiden Bell finished fourth in the discus (103 feet 9 inches), Levi Bol was fourth in the 800 meters (2:28.24) and Alex Wilber in the 1600 meters (5:26.01).

Payton Flores was fifth in the shot put (35 feet 7.5 inches) and the discus (101 feet 5.5 inches), Nathan Carlisle took fifth in the long jump (17 feet 4.5 inches), Andrew Fielstra in the 100 meters (12.44).

Fruitport’s girls had four first places.

Sierra Vanderwier won the 400 meters (1:08.89), Valerie Pollock took first in the 1600 meters (6:12.39), Kaitlyn Yonker in the 300 hurdles (56.98) and Katie Wildey in the pole vault (6 feet 6 inches). Fruitport won the 800 relay (4:49.76).

Recording second places were Pollock in the 800 meters (2:45.50), Lauren Lee in the 1600 (6:19.45), Yonker in the 100 hurdles (20.84) and Kylie Rudolph in the long jump (14 feet 11 inches).

Finishing third were Rudolph in the 100 (14.7), Julie Smith in the 100 hurdles (23.30), Hailee Benderman in the pole vault (6 feet).

Taking fourth places were Hallie Millis in the shot put (20 feet 7.5 inches) and Smith in the long jump (13 feet .5 inches).

Bonderman claimed a fifth place finish in the long jump (10 feet 7 inches) and Vanderwier was fifth in the shot put (19 feet 9.5 inches).
