TRAVERSE CITY — Grand Haven’s girls softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from Traverse City Central, 16-6 and 14-3 on the road Friday night.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning of the first game, the Buccaneers put up a five-spot in the second and never looked back.

Regan Riemersma pitched the first three innings and allowed five runs on five hits, struck out two and walked one. Hannah Bowen threw the next three innings and gave up one run on one hit and walked one, while Claire Rademaker finished the last inning.

Savanna Collins led the Bucs at the plate, going 4-for-4 with four runs batted in and four runs scored. Skylar Covelli was 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored.

Bowen finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Sami Franz went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored while Kendall Pahl was 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored.

In the second game Bowen picked up the win in the circle, throwing six innings and giving up three runs on six hits with one walk and five strike outs.

Leading hitters included Covelli who went 2-for-3 with a run scored, Riemersma who was 2-for-3 with one run scored, Franz who was 2-for-4 with one RBI and two scored.

Bowen finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and Mercedes Ybbarra went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
