CALEDONIA — Grand Haven’s girls softball team trailed by two, 3-1 in the top of the fifth inning and then exploded for 18 runs in an 18-5 victory over Caledonia on the road Thursday.

Sami Franz, Savannah Collins and Hannah Bowen each had doubles in that big fifth inning, while Regan Riemersma and Hannah Aldred contributed base hits. Riemersma was 2-for-3 for the game.

But it was a three-run double by Skylar Covelli that was the highlight of the inning for Grand Haven.

Aldred was in the pitching circle for Grand Haven and got the win, allowing five runs on five hits. Only two of the runs were earned. She struck out six and walked only one.
