SPRING LAKE—Spring Lake senior Ian Hill has signed his national letter of intent and will continue his cross country along with track and field career next fall at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Ian has been one of the most disciplined athletes that I have ever had the pleasure to coach,” said Spring Lake cross country and track-field head coach Todd Mitchell.

He (Ian) has been coachable, humble, and hard working since he was a freshman until now< Mitchell said.

As a distance runner he has a great combination of speed and strength. He is two time all-state in cross country and once in track (so far),” commented Mitchell

Hill holds the school records for 5k cross country (15:18), 3200 (9:10), and 1600 (4:14). He has also earned academic all-state and is a talented student in the classroom.

Hill is considering studying pre-med or exercise science related fields at Michigan as his majors. Ian currently holds a 4.0 GPA at Spring Lake and is the son of Tom and Heidi Hill.
