HART — Hart’s girls softball team opened the 2022 spring season Tuesday afternoon with a non-conference doubleheader sweep of visiting Mason County Eastern, 21-0 and 24-1 at home.

Finley Kistler started the first game in the pitcher’s circle for the Pirates, throwing a no-hitter and striking out six in three innings of work.

In the nightcap, Gabby Quijas was the winning pitcher, striking out five and giving up just three hits.

Taylor Campbell was in the circle for the Cardinals and took the loss. She was tagged for 18 hits by the Pirates, and also walked three batters.

Mariana VanAgtmael led the way offensively with two hits, including a triple, and four runs batted in.

Kloe Klotz also had two hits and drove in three runs. Abby Hicks belted a home run and had four RBIs.

Skylar Harry was the pitcher of record for the Cardinals in the second game. The Pirates rapped out eight hits against her and she also struggled with her control with 17 walks.

Deanna Codman had a double with a run scored and Campbell was 2-for-2 with a run drive in for the Cardinals.
