JACKSON—The Muskegon Community College women’s softball team went on the road Saturday to take on Jackson Community College and returned home having split a doubleheader with the Jets.

JCC took the opener 6-4 while the Jayhawks took the nightcap 9-3.

In the first game Makayla Thompson (Reeths Puffer), Kendyll Bond (Jenison), and Kennadi Dykstra (Fruitport) had RBIs for the Jayhawks.

Thompson took the loss for the Jayhawks, allowing 6 runs on 8 hits, striking out seven and walking one.

MCC racked up 11 hits. Thompson and Bond led the team with 2 hits each.

In the nightcap Makayla Thompson (Reeths Puffer) took the victory for the Jayhawks, throwing 7 innings, allowing 8 hits and 3 runs, striking out 6.

Madison Clarke (North Muskegon) and Willo Staal (Fruitport) both hit home runs for the Jayhawks. Kennadi Dykstra (Fruitport) and Kendyll Bond (Jenison) each racked up multiple hits for the Jayhawks. Dykstra went 4-for-4 at the plate today, helping lead MCC to the win.

The Jayhawks are now 14-4 on the season will travel to Glen Oaks Community College on Tuesday. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
