JACKSON—The Muskegon Community College women’s softball team traveled to Lansing Community College on Saturday and split a doubleheader with the Jets.

The Jayhawks fell in the opener 6-5 and came back to take the nightcap 14-8

Makayla Thompson (Reeths Puffer) took the loss for the Jayhawks in the opener throwing 6 innings, allowing 6 runs, and striking out 5.

Kennadi Dykstra (Fruitport) hit a home run in the 5th inning. Dykstra and Annika Roersma (West Catholic) collected multiple hits for the Jayhawks.

In the nightcap Kendyll Bond (Jenison) got the win for the Jayhawks on the mound throwing 5 innings and allowing 8 runs. Makayla Thompson (Reeths Puffer) recorded a save and got the last 4 outs.

Hayden Ruel (Oakridge) went 3 for 5 at the plate driving in runs on 2 doubles, and a single. Kennadi Dykstra (Fruitport), Ruel, Maddison Mettler (Mona Shores), Willo Staal (Fruitport), Bond, Annika Roersma (West Catholic), and Alexis Brown (Whitehall) collected multiple hits for the Jayhawks.

The Jayhawks are now 24-7 overall on the season.
