MUSKEGON—The Muskegon Community College Women’s softball team improved to 26-7 overall on Wednesday afternoon as they swept a doubleheader from Lake Michigan College.

Muskegon Community College defeated Lake Michigan College with a final score of 8-0 in the opener.

Makayla Thompson (Reeths Puffer) threw a shutout allowing zero runs, striking out six, and walking one.

Morgan Knapp (Whitehall), Willo Staal (Fruitport), Annika Roersma (West Catholic), Kennadi Dyksta (Fruitport), and Kendyll Bond (Jension) all had multiple hits during the 6th inning to secure the win.

The Jayhawks managed 11 hits throughout the 6 innings.

The Jayhawks took the nightcap 5-4

Kendyll Bond (Jension) got the win on the mound for the Jayhawks, surrendering 4 runs on 8 hits and striking out three.

Annika Roersma (West Catholic) hit a home run in the third inning scoring one run. Hayden Ruel (Oakridge), Brianna Pastor (Oakridge), and Bond collected multiple hits for the Jayhawks. Ruel led the Jayhawks at the plate going 3 for 4.
