MUSKEGON—The Muskegon Community College Women’s softball team got by Kalamazoo Community College on Friday afternoon 4-3 in the opener of what was supposed to be a doubleheader.

The nightcap was postponed because of weather conditions and will be played this coming Thursday, April 28 at Muskegon Community College with a 3pm start time.

On Friday Makayla Thompson (Reeths Puffer) took the win on the mound for the Jayhawks allowing 10 hits, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts throughout the 8 inning game.

The Jayhawks were tied with Kalamazoo at 3-3 in the bottom of the 8th inning when Hayden Ruel (Oakridge) hit a walk-off error to score the winning run.

Kendyll Bond (Jenison), Brianna Pastor (Oakridge), and Thompson each had multiple hits for the Jayhawks. The Jayhawks had 8 hits throughout the game.

Muskegon Community College is now 23-6 and will be back on the diamond on Saturday (today) at 3pm when they travel to Lansing Community College.
