Western Michigan Christian vs. Muskegon Catholic Central Girls Soccer

NORTON SHORES –The Western Michigan Christian and Muskegon Catholic Central girls soccer teams went scoreless on Monday evening with a 0-0 draw at WMC in a Lakes 8 Conference match-up.

The Warriors edged out their cross-town rival in shots on goal and time of possession but failed to connect on some scoring opportunities.

Brianna Zuidema, Sydney Betten, and Grace Sytsema did a solid job winning the mid-field defensive battles to stump the Crusader’s attack.

WMC head coach, Debbie Pekel, saw this game as an eye-opener and hopes to move forward, and grow from the outcome.

This was a humbling experience for this group,” said Pekel. “We’ve had some good showings early this season and I think our girls began to lose sight of what made us successful. We have to be better.”

WMC (3-4-2, 2-0-1) will continue conference play on Wednesday when they take a short trip to Orchard View.

MCC (2-2-2, 0-1-1) is set to travel to Manistee on Wednesday.
