WHITEHALL — Ludington’s baseball team suffered a pair of losses in the East vs. West tournament, 12-0 to Freeland and 6-1 to Bay City John Glenn on Saturday at Whitehall.

“Obviously, we are disappointed with the results,” said Orioles head coach Evan Kroeze. “It was a tough day. but we still see this as a positive for our team as we keep working towards our team goals this season.

“Seeing two of the best Division 2 teams in the state was a great experience for our guys, and shows the level we need to strive for. I was extremely happy with the adjustments we made going into the John Glenn game after a tough first game against Freeland.

“If we could have gotten that key hit with runners in scoring position, or had a bounce or two go our way, I think we would have been right there.”

Hayden Madl was the losing pitcher against Freeland, giving up seven hits and four earned runs while striking out four. Stephen Weinert led the Orioles at the plate with a double.

Nathan Dillehay went 3 2/3 innings in against John Glenn, allowing three runs on three hits with one strike out.

Weinert was 2-for-3 with a home run to lead Ludington’s offense, while Dillehay went 2-for-3.
