Ludington vs. Muskegon Catholic Girls

The Ludington girls soccer team had a successful Lakes 8 Conference opener as they got by Muskegon Catholic Central 2-0 on Monday evening.The Oriole’s Abi Bandstra and Braylynn Lemire each scored goals for the Orioles.

Anyssa Castaneda posted the shutout in the net making six saves on six shots taken.

Ludington (3-2, 1-0) will be at home on Wednesday as they host Western Michigan Christian.

Muskegon Catholic Central (1-2-1, 0-1) will also play at home on Wednesday. The Crusaders will take on Grand Rapids Wellspring Prep.

Fremont vs. Chippewa Hills

The Fremont girls soccer team’s offense got the job done on Monday evening and defeated Remus Chippewa Hills 7-1 in CSAA-Bronze action.

The Packer’s outshot Chippewa Hills 20-4.

Lili Isak posted a hat trick for the Packers and also added an assist, while Mia Clemence scored two goals and had an assist. Mia Witte and Riley Chase each scored a goal and had an assist apiece. 

Macey Powers and Jessie Petry shared goalkeeper duties for Fremont and combined for three saves.

Fremont (3-2, 1-0) will travel to Big Rapids for league play on Wednesday.

Orchard View vs.Shelby

With another solid scoring performance by Nazalia Mendiola, the Orchard View girls soccer team topped Shelby 5-2 on Monday night.

Mendiola found the net three times to complete the hat trick.

Also adding to the production for the Cardinals was Kyah McGruther who had a goal and an assist, and Kylee Carmean who also scored one goal.

Orchard View (3-1) will travel to Manistee on Wednesday.

Shelby (1-6, 1-1) will host Mason County Central on Tuesday.

Hart vs. Wyoming Potters House

The Hart girls soccer team held on and tallied their first stalemate of the season with a 1-1 draw over Wyoming Potters House on Monday evening.

The Pirates trailed 1-0 early but slowly built up momentum that they carried with them into the second half.

With some halftime adjustments, the Pirates cracked down and found a way to keep moving down the field. Stricter defense limited Potters House to only two shots in the entire second half which allowed the Pirates to find a couple of opportunities.

Cristelia Rangel was the beneficiary of one of those opportunities and cashed in with the tying goal for the Pirates.

Hart (0-4-1) will open Western Michigan Conference play on Tuesday when they take on Oakridge. 

WMC vs. Manistee 

The Western Michigan Christian girls soccer team pulled out a 2-0 win over Manistee in a Lakes 8 Conference battle on Monday evening.

The cold weather and wet conditions heavily affected the speed of the game early, but the Warriors found a way to recalibrate and find a rhythm.

Neither team managed to find the net in the first half. The Warriors refocused after the halftime break, which broke things loose and opened up multiple opportunities. After a couple of unlucky bounces and cross-bar strikes, Ally Oppenhuizen eventually managed to net a goal. 

Sydney Betten closed out the scoring on the night with a goal of her own.

Western Michigan Christian (2-3, 1-0) will travel to Ludington on Wednesday to take on the Orioles.

Manistee (2-2, 0-1) will host Orchard View on Wednesday.
