LUDINGTON — Ludington’s girls softball team hosted Traverse City West in a non-conference doubleheader Friday and dropped both games, 12-3 and 12-11.

In the opener Lilli Goodrich took the circle and threw five innings, giving up 10 hits while striking out eight. Jody Meisenheirmer threw the last inning and gave up one walk and one hit.

Goodrich was 1-for-1 with a triple and drove in two runs on offense. Rebecca Szoboszlay was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Brynn Fortner also had a hit.

In the second game Goodrich pitched all five innings and a little more and was tagged with the loss again after giving up 14 hits, one walk and struck out one.

Ayiana Rangel led the offense in this one, going 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI. Szoboszlay, Brynn Cole, Fortner, Meisenheimer and Katelynn Karnes each had two hits.

“Traverse City West is a good team,” said Ludington head coach Sierra Holmes. “They make offensive adjustments especially well, so it is not easy to pitch to them for two games.

“That being said, we also adjusted to their pitching as the night went along and made a lot of plays defensively. They’re just a little further along than we are right now, but these were good games for us to play as we move into our conference schedule.”
