LUDINGTON — Ludington’s girls softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader over visiting Shelby at home Monday night, 15-3 and 9-5.

In the opener, Lilli Goodrich started in the circle and pitched the full five innings, giving up four hits, walking two and striking out 11. Only two of the Tigers runs were earned.

Jody Mesienheimer had a double, drove in three runs and scored two runs for the Orioles. Ayiana Rangle had two runs batted in and two runs scored. Brynn Fortner drove in a run and scored two.

Goodrich pitched the second game for Ludington as well and threw a full seven innings, giving up six hits, walking two and strike out 14.

Brynn Cole was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and two runs scored. Fortner was also 3-for-4, drove in two runs and scored a run. Rebecca Szoboszlay was 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.

“Lilli threw well, and we had some kids get some big hits when we needed them,” said Ludington head coach Sierra Holmes. “We had one rough defensive inning in each game, and we made some mistakes on the basepaths. But, I think those things will improve.”
