ROCKFORD — Montague’s baseball team lost both ends of a non-conference doubleheader from Forest Hills Eastern at the Meijer Sport Complex in Rockford on Friday afternoon, 8-0 and 5-1.

In the first game Forest Hills Eastern scored the only run it would need in the first inning, and put up a five-spot in the bottom of the third to open a 6-0 lead and never looked back.

The Wildcats managed only three hits and committed four errors, while Forest Hills Eastern had four hits and had one error.

Owen Petersen took the loss on the mound for the Wildcats and gave up six runs on just one hit but also issued five walks while striking out two in three innings.

Kade Johnson, Aidan Buchberger and Petersen each had one hit for the Wildcats.

Colton Blankstrom took the hill in the nightcap and gave up five runs on six hits. He struck out five in 5 1/3 innings. The Wildcats had three errors.

Tugg Nichols led the Wildcats at the plate with three hits and one run batted in, while Buchberger rapped out two hits and had one run scored.
