MONTAGUE — Stranding six baserunners through the first two innings, and was able to score just one run which set the tone for the game as the Montague baseball team lost to visiting Grand Rapids Christian, 11-3 at home Tuesday afternoon.

The Wildcats left a total of 11 runners on base for the game. Even so, it was a close game after five innings with Grand Rapids leading only 5-3.

But the Wildcats made a few mistakes in the sixth, which opened the door for Grand Rapids to score six runs and blow the game open.

Kade Johnson pitched three innings for the Wildcats and gave up three earned runs on four hits, struck out two and walked four.

Tugg Nichols had two hits and one run batted in with a run scored for the Wildcats. Nick Moss had a hit and a walk, two stolen bases and one run scored. Aidan Buchberger walked three times, stole two bases and had one run scored.

Montague fell to 0-3.
