Orchard View beats Manistee while Fruitport ends up in 1-1 tie with Grand Rapids West Catholic in soccer action on Wednesday

MANISTEE – The Orchard View girls soccer team opened up Lakes 8 Conference play with a 3-1 win against Manistee on Wednesday evening.

The Cardinals kicked off the scoring with a pair of McGruther goals to go up 2-0. Manistee answered back with a goal from Libby McCarthy to close out the half with a score of 2-1.

Nazalia Mendiola added her eighth goal of the season to wrap up the scoring on the night.

Goalkeeper Elizabeth Estelle made five saves for the Cardinals in the net.

Orchard View (4-1, 1-0) will be back action in Monday when they will host Ludington. 

Fruitport Girls Soccer

GRAND RAPIDS – The Fruitport girls soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against Grand Rapids West Catholic in O-K Blue Conference action on Wednesday night.

Mallory Smith scored the lone goal for the Trojans off of an assist from Kayla Kolberg.

The Trojan’s Riley Kettel posted 12 saves in goal.

Fruitport (3-2-1,1-1-1) will be at Western Michigan Christian on Saturday. The Trojans will take on Traverse City St. Francis and Leland for the North-South Challenge.
