PENTWATER — Pentwater’s girls softball team dropped a Western Michigan D League doubleheader to Marion, 4-3 and 7-3 at home Thursday afternoon.

In the first game Mikaylyn Kenney was in the circle for the Falcons and had a great game, striking out six and walking only two while allowing five hits in six innings.

The Falcons managed four hits on offense, with Mackenna Hasil ripping a double while Mandi Sayles, Bailee Hasil and Maren Martinsen each collecting singles.

Kenney also started the second game in the circle and threw five innings, striking out six, walking three and gave up eight hits.

Miscues and a couple of errors cost the Falcons.

Offensively, Kenney helped her own cause with a home run and a double at the plate. Mackenna and Bailee Hasil each added singles.

“For being the second game of the year, we played well,” said Falcons’ head coach Stephen Rossiter.

“A few players were placed in new positions due to an illness, and with that being said I think we did well against what is probably going to be the team to beat this year in the WMD.”
