SHELBY–Shelby’s girls softball team survived a four-run second inning by North Muskegon to score the winning run in the fourth and take a rugged 9-8 victory in the West Michigan Conference on Thursday afternoon.

The Tigers finished with 12 hits for the game, and committed three fielding errors.

North Muskegon scored its eight runs on nine hits and had four errors.

Daphne Clark was the winning pitcher for the Tigers, striking out nine. She also collected two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.

Kendall Zoulek finished the game with three hits, including a home run and a double while driving in two runs.

Megan Sly and Ally Corey each had a double. Jackie Hammerle stroked out two doubles and had three RBIs. Claire Gowell also had a double, and Kaylyn Clark had two singles and two RBIs, while picking off two runners attempting to steal.
