SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central’s girls softball team picked up a non-conference doubleheader with Lake City that was not on the original schedule, and came away with a sweep Tuesday afternoon at home, 8-6 and 12-5.

Jessica Gerbers was sent out to the circle for Game 1 and collected the win, pitching four innings and giving up six runs (four earned) on eight hits and striking out three.

At the plate, the Spartans were led by Emily Adams who was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. The Spartans had nine hits as a team.

The winning pitcher in Game 2 was sophomore Gracie Weinert. She went six innings and was touched for 12 hits and five runs (four earned) with two strike outs.

Gerbers again paced the Spartans at the plate with a 4-for-4 performance with a double, run batted in and a run scored. Jerilyn Soberalski finished 3-for-3 with two walks and a run scored.

Adams went 3-for-4 with a walk. Riley Mast was 2-for-2 with a walk and three runs scored. Alex Lutrell finished 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored. Weinert was 2-for-3 and scored a run.

Sarah Keefer was 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Ashley Green had a hit and scored a run. The Spartans collected a total of 20 hits for the game.
