RAVENNA — Ravenna’s baseball team swept a West Michigan Conference doubleheader from Mason County Central, 4-0 and 5-2 at home Thursday afternoon.
Travis May was on the hill for the Bulldogs in the first game, and allowed just one hit in seven innings. He struck out seven and walked five. Ravenna did not have an error.
It was a close game throughout, with the Bulldogs taking a 1-0 lead after one and scored two runs in the third inning to make it 3-0 before tacking on a single run in the bottom of the fifth.
Single hits for the Bulldogs by Tyler Bradtmueller, May and Brandon McFarren. McFarren, Dayton Thomas and Luke Meyers each drove in a run.
In the nightcap, the Bulldogs, batting first, found themselves in a 2-0 hole at the end of the first inning.
The score stayed that way until the top of the fourth, when the Bulldogs erupted for four runs to take a 4-2 lead and added one run in the fifth.
McFarren was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs, allowing five hits while striking out three and walking three over seven complete innings. The Bulldogs again did not have an error.
Bradtmueller was 2-for-4 with a run scored and McFarren aided his own cause, going 2-for-4 and drove in a run. May, Thomas and Meyers each had single hits. Meyers had two runs batted in. Blake Homoly had one RBI.
