Slack replaces Kurt Gruppen, who resigned as athletic director several months ago. In the interim, Cavin Mohrhardt was doing the AD duties at WMC with assistance from his son, Christian.
“We are excited to have Ryan join our staff as the WMC athletic director,” WMC principal Samuel Greer said. “He comes to us with true leadership experience and I am confident that his vision for Warrior athletics will lead us in our mission to develop, mentor and raise the next generation of young athletes who strive to emulate Christ.”
Slack’s background includes a degree in Sports Management from Indiana Wesleyan University, where he managed the men and women’s basketball teams as well as the softball team. He is currently pursuing his MBA at Cornerstone University with a Project Management Concentration. He expects to graduate in December. Currently, he is working at Cornerstone as a graduate assistant for athletic events and athletic facilities.
“I know WMC has a rich, Christ-centered history of championship athletics and I am honored to be a part of this school community,” Slack said “I look forward to the challenge of maintaining excellence while developing God-honoring athletes and servant leaders on and off the field.”
Ryan and his wife, Morgan, a WMC graduate, reside in Grand Rapids.
