Ravenna pitcher Emma Gillard pitched a perfect game to lead the Bulldogs to a 10-0 Game 1 win over Shelby in a West Michigan Conference softball matchup on Tuesday.

Gillard struck out eight batters in the win and was backed by a six-run second inning by the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs were led at the plate by Addison Gillard with four hits while Emma Herremans, Kara Postema, Maddie Kilbourne and Liberty Wilick each posted two hits.

Ravenna used its offensive attack to top the Tigers in the five-inning nightcap, 17-6.

Emma Gillard again picked up the win on the mound for Ravenna, striking out four while giving up six runs and five hits.

Ravenna hitters came through with a huge third inning, scoring nine runs.

Herremans led on offense with three hits while Postema finished with three hits, including a triple. Addison Gillard, Kilbourne and Kendra Denhof had two hits apiece for Ravenna. Kilbourne belted a triple in the win.

Shelby was led at the plate by Daphne Clark and Megan Sly with two hits each. Clark posted a triple and had two RBIs while Sly’s game included a single and a double.

Ravenna is now 21-2 overall and 10-2 in West Michigan Conference play.
