SCOTTVILLE — Ludington varsity softball went 1-1 at the Larson’s Ace Hardware Softball Tournament in Scottville on Saturday.

In game one, the Orioles beat Mason County Central 3-1. Lilli Goodrich pitched the complete seven innings to take the win. She struck out 16 batters and gave up three hits.

Rebecca Szoboszlay, Brynn Cole, Brynn Fortner, and Jody Meisenheimer each had a hit for the Orioles, and Fortner and Meisenheimer had RBIs.

Ludington dropped game two to Hart by a score of 9-1. Goodrich started and got the loss. She went 5 2/3 innings, giving up 11 hits and four walks while striking out 13. Jody Meisenheimer pitched the remaining 1/3 inning.

Brynn Cole was 1-for-3 with a double; Ayiana Rangel had two hits; and Fortner, Goodrich, Keeley Curtis, and Anna Genia each had a hit for the Orioles.

“We started off a bit sluggish today, but the girls kept battling and we were able to string together some hits late in the first game to come back and get the win,” said Ludington head coach Sierra Holmes.

“Lilli threw very well to keep us in that game, too. We actually had more hits in the second game, but we didn’t put anything together and left quite a few runners on base.

“We made some plays, but we still need to be sharper defensively to avoid giving up extra outs. We were able to get some of our younger kids some experience today, and they took some good cuts in that second game.”

Ludington went to 6-6 overall.
