GRAND HAVEN — Grand Haven’s girls softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from Reeths-Puffer, 12-0 and 14-4 at home on Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Buccaneers scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and coated from there in a game that was shortened to five innings because of the 10-run lead rule.

Hannah Bowen picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Bucs, scattering five hits with one strike out.

Bowen also led Grand Haven at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and five RBI. Sami Franz also went 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored.

Mercedes Ybbarra had two hits in three at-bats with two RBI and three runs scored. Emily Walcott was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Savannah Collins went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Veda Vargas drove in a run, Michayla Chciuk had one RBI as did Ryley Frank.

In the nightcap Skylar Covelli picked up the win in relief. She walked one and struck out one.

Walcott paced the Lady Bucs on offense, going 5-for-5 with three RBI and five runs scored. Covelli went 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored.

Collins finished 3-for-5 with three RBI, Regan Riemersma was 2-for-4 with two RBI, Ybbarra was 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored. Vargas and Abby Jeske each had one RBI.
