GRAND HAVEN–Zoe Spoelman has made her decision to continue her basketball career at the Division 2 level. The Grand Haven center signed her national letter of intent to attend Purdue Northwest University.

Purdue Northwest University is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). The Pride finished last season 8-18 overall, 5-14 in the GLIAC.

Spoelman was a dominant force for the Buccaneers at both ends of the court. Last season, 6-2 center averaged 7.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. The lefty’s skillset and footwork has helped her inside the paint and her hard work helped her improve behind the arc.

“Zoe is passionate about basketball and has worked very hard at her game,” Grand Haven coach Katie Kowalczyk-Fulmer said “She has put a ton of time into working on her shot and is a very good 3-point shooter as well as free throw shooter. She is an outstanding shot blocker. One of the best Grand Haven has had.

“She has a very high basketball IQ and I look forward to watching her play at the next level,” Fulmer said. “Zoe has been a pleasure to coach. It has been fun to watch her grow up and develop into the player she is today.”

Zoe has a 3.54 GPA and is planning on majoring in Communications – Advertising and Broadcasting at Purdue Northwest University.
