LUDINGTON — Ludington’s baseball team played a single game against Orchard View on Thursday afternoon, and came out a 9-3 victor at Oriole Field.

Wilson Gunsell picked up the win on the hill for the Orioles, allowing four hits and one earned run with four strike outs in five innings.

“The guys did a nice job completing the sweep, and bringing a lot of energy coming off a road game the night before,” said Oriole head coach Evan Kroeze.

“Wilson Gunsell and Gabe Hogenson did a nice job on the mound after not pitching for two weeks. Going into this weekend, we still need to work on our hitting in scoring position, but we feel like we are in a good spot and are looking forward to competing for another Ace Larsen trophy.”

Hogenson provided some punch at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and two runs scored. Evan McCarthy finished 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two stole bases.

Zach Peterson took the loss for Orchard View going five innings and striking out three.

Jaxon Tuttle had and Chew Allen had two hits each for the Cardinals. Tuttle knocked in two runs.

The Orioles improved to 9-3 overall and 7-1 in the Lakes 8.
